Get ready for an extra large post full of adorable images!

Baby Maya was 7 days old when she came to the studio for her newborn session and first portraits. I loved her name, delicate features and beautiful dark hair. Her parents were so laid back and the session couldn’t have gone better. I have a boatload of favorites and couldn’t just post a few.

I always like to start the session with fabric wraps, knit blankets and hats in order to make the baby more comfortable. I loved the cream-on-cream colors and set-ups, so flattering to baby Maya.

This one make me smile. :)

Baby Maya was very comfortable in all the poses that we tried and didn’t mind wearing her ‘birthday suit’. This is one of my favorites, it shows perfectly how little she is.

Thank you, ‘T’ and ‘A’ for bringing your beautiful daughter to me for her newborn portraits! It was my pleasure working with you!

Baby Laramie came to the studio for his newborn photography session when he was 10 days old. We had a lovely session and we were able to use lots of different set-ups, which resulted in a great variety.

And look at his hair, could it be any better?

I loved this green blanket and wrap on him, such a perfect and most flattering color:

He was awake for part of his session, just very calmly looking around with his big beautiful eyes:

And near the end of the session he went back to sleep:

Thank you, ‘A.’, for bringing your most handsome boy to me, I had such a great time with him!

Lincoln came to the studio for his newborn session when he was just 5 days old. He came with his parents and 5 siblings, and I really enjoyed meeting this sweet family.

You may remember how stunning his mom looked at her maternity session:

I love how this ‘before & after’ turned out!

And some images of Lincoln, including some of my favorites:

And a couple with his parents:

I love how cozy and happy they look!

‘A’ and ‘M’, thanks so much for choosing me to document and capture this special time in your lives! It was my pleasure working with you!

Baby Jocelyn was born 3 weeks early. She was 17 days old on the say of her custom newborn session, just one day shy of her due date. Even though she was older than what I usually recommend, she behaved well and we were able to capture beautiful portraits of her, ones that show how little and delicate she is at this brief stage in her new life.

If you are familiar with my photography work, you may have noticed how I prefer to capture newborn babies with a simple, natural look and soft, flattering light. I have to add that I have been drawn to simplicity as a result of personal convictions of style. A newborn baby is such a perfect marvel that not much else is needed other than an expertly used fabric swaddle and beautiful morning light to accentuate the delicate features. I know that there is a strong trend nowadays for the extra props and the shabby-chic look, but I believe that a prop should be used to enhance the image and not detract from the baby. If you look at an image of a newborn baby and you pay attention first to the bright colors of the background,  then the baby becomes a prop as well, instead of the central figure. I want the parents to remember their new baby and her beautiful little details during her first few days of life, not the props and clothes that were used for her newborn session.

And now on to baby Jocelyn’s portraits:

I love how the colors turned out in this series, the gray and the purple together are so flattering.

Little details are so precious and always one of my favorites from the session:

I love the soft colors of a cream-on-cream set up:

Even at almost 3 weeks of age, baby Jocelyn still curled adorably:

Hope you enjoyed baby Jocelyn’s portraits, it was my pleasure working with her!

This is baby Jocelyn, who was born 3 weeks early and came to me for her newborn session on the day before her due date. She’s still so little and dainty, and I wanted to show that- just a simple set up and a perfect baby girl.

This is just a sneak peek for her mom, more to come soon!

I’m so excited to share that one of my images was awarded a 2nd place ribbon at the Utah State Fair:

If you go visit the Fair, in Salt Lake City, be sure not to miss the photography exhibit, so much talent.

This is beautiful baby Gus who came in for her newborn portraits with her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother! Such an honor to be able to capture this very special moment.
