“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart.”
- Helen Keller

My two little monkeys. They are the best of friends, at 5 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old. They do all of their adventures together, get in trouble together and pretty much spend all of their time together. Being brothers as they are, sometimes they fight too, but they don’t stay mad at each other for too long.

I wanted to capture their relationship before they grow too much older (seriously, why do little kids grow up so fast?!) and I was inspired by a photographer friend to use a bed as a simple playground of sorts.

These are not technically perfect images by any standard. My goal was to capture more of them being with each other and not worry so much about technical settings and composition.

They were silly at times (I love the way he still holds his feet like babies do).

Laughing so hard at times.

And sometimes they were a bit serious.

There were hugs at times.

And some rare moments of meditation (big brother’s idea and little brother followed).

I think this one is my favorite.

And a little slideshow of all my favorite ones:

I showed them this and they said they’d like to do it again. :)

Just a little peek of a fun session with two special boys. :)

More to come.

You may remember Luca, that adorable little boy whom I met last month. He and his family came to me through Kids Cancer Crusade.

I wanted to come back and post a few more of his session with his siblings and parents. Luca was diagnosed with Leukemia and is still undergoing treatments. Despite the emotional strain that this has caused the family, I could feel how much they care for one another and how concerned they all are for Luca’s well being.

Big sister Giulana and big brother Alessio both behaved so well for me.  I love their smiles and gorgeous eyes.

Luca was a bit shy so his mom and dad distracted him with one of his favorite things, blowing bubbles.

In the end, we were able to get a few smiles and natural expressions:

I felt so humbled to meet this family and their brave little guy. I wish you all the best and a fast and complete recovery for little Luca.

“Growing up is never easy. You hold on to things that were. You wonder what’s to come. But that night, I think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing is, we didn’t have to hate each other for getting older. We just had to forgive ourselves… for growing up.”
- The Wonder Years

This is Michael, who has just recently turned 13 years old.  Isn’t this such an age of change? You’re not a little kid anymore but you’re still so far away of being a grown-up.  I love this close-up that I got of him, you can see so much in those eyes.

We had a brief session last week and I will be sharing more soon.

I want to apologize for the lack of recent posts- I was out of town for a few days and came back sick and that took some extra time to get everything back to the normal routine. I’ll be trying to catch up with the blog and I have some fun posts in store.

I’m starting the week with Odette and her family. I introduced Odette last time, she came to me through Kids Cancer Crusade and we had a little session to celebrate the completion of her treatments.

Odette was just full of energy and quite hard to keep up! Lucky for me, she loved the black cat that resides at the garden:

You can see how happy she was to be out and about:

Odette came with her older brother and sisters: 11 year-old Brandt, 9 year-old Kathleen and Josselyn who is 3 1/2.

And one of my favorite images from Odette’s session, a quiet, tender moment that I was able to capture:

I introduced these sweet siblings recently and had to come up and post some more from their session. After having rescheduled due to weather, we were very happy with nice afternoon and slightly overcast sky. Despite their young age and the travel time to me in the late afternoon, Brianna and Kameron were very well behaved and working with them was a treat.

After wearing their own outfits, we got them changed into some more vintage inspired clothing from my prop closet.

Doesn’t she look so sweet?

Her little brother was so cute and looked just adorable in the seersucker romper.

This is one has to be my favorite, the antique chair and their vintage clothes, with the black and white conversion, just lends this image such a timeless feel.

And here it is in color, which I also love.

‘K’, thank you so much for bringing your adorable children,  I had a wonderful time with them.

“A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.”

- Marion C. Garretty

I am a little behind on my editing and blogging, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to introduce to you these beautiful sisters who came for a garden photo session a few weeks ago. This is the best time of the year for an outdoor photo session, before the hot weather starts drying out all the beautiful plants and flowers, and the green turns yellowish and flat. The garden in Tooele is beautiful and I always make sure it’s reserved exclusively for each session.

You will see how they all have such gorgeous dark eyes and hair, and although similar, each of them is so unique. They also loved the petti skirts that I brought for them to wear, and they modeled them so well.

First up is a sweet little Briela. She was quiet and shy, but still so good about sitting for me.

And this is Liliana, who loved to play with her sisters and twirl around in the petti skirts. She definitely knew which petti skirt she liked best.

Next up is Adalia,  who can be so spunky and totally sweet at the same time.

And big sister is Celeste, poised and calm and taking it all in:

Thank you, ‘L’, for bringing your beautiful daughters to me. It was so great meeting you all!

Last week I decided it was time to take my 2 youngest for a little photo session. They are 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 and quite have a mind of their own at times. I bribed and dangled promises of their favorite things and then crossed my fingers that it would all work out.

As soon as we arrived and had them remove their shoes, they took off running in all directions! The older one was easier to bring back with the old bribes but the little one was quite impossible to reason with. He kept screaming ‘Done!’ but I wasn’t. I almost gave up and packed everything.

I remembered the bubbles and handed them over to my 4 year old. After a few minutes, the younger one saw all the attention and decided to join him. I just sat down and waited for the right moment.

I’m so in love with it, I’m blowing it up big!

listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is by no means a waste of time”

I met Tyler and Hannah last Friday evening. Don’t they have the bluest eyes? Gorgeous children!

It was a fun outdoor session, the weather was really nice,  even though we all got bitten by bugs. The location had lots of great variety, and it was fun to explore it We tried all sorts of new things and even Mom and Dad got in some with the children.

Mom and Dad, thanks so much for making the drive! Enjoy this sneak peek while I finish the rest of your gallery.
