Do you remember baby Andrew from a few weeks ago? I had to come back and post a few more of his session- he behaved so well and the light was just perfect that day. I love the classic feel of some of these images. I prefer simplicity so the focus of the session falls on the adorable subject:

This next one is one of my favorites from the session:

This is another favorite, love his expression here:

I have to mention that Andrew’s mom brought him over to my natural light studio space that I have available for newborn and baby sessions. It’s a great alternative when in-home sessions are not possible and also very conveniently located for out-of-town visitors, only 40 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. E-mail me for more details.

Reflections by Cindy is proud to announce the 2011 Reflections Calendar is in the works! We are now accepting applications for calendar models. We are looking for newborns under 10 days old and children under the age of 5, with a preference for Tooele area residents.

Reflections Calendar is a fundraising calendar that features 12 months of beautiful photos of local children. The calendar will benefit a children’s charity in Tooele, Utah (to be announced soon). The 2010 Reflections Calendar raised over $2750 for Tooele Valley Community Cooperative.

Please visit Reflections Calendar and click on the link ‘Become a Model’ to learn more.

“Photography takes an instant out of time,

This is a ‘Thank You’ post- a sincere thank you to all my clients for inviting me into their lives to capture their precious children. I love meeting new children and I always love capturing their personalities, taking that little bit of time and freezing it for posterity. They will never be like that again, at whatever stage they are,  and I hope that the images I took are able to bring joy every single time they are looked at.

Here is a collage of each child and/or each session I had in 2009- hope these little faces will bring some joy to your heart this Christmas season:

Thank you for such a wonderful year in 2009! Here’s to all the best in 2010!

Words

“One of the hardest things in life
is having words in your heart that you can’t utter.”
- James Earl Jones

Just like an image is a powerful way to convey emotion and character, a deliberate word is worth it’s weight in gold. Before I delved into photography, I loved words and their meaning, and playing with both. I actually have a Master’s degree in English and Portuguese and I loved writing and reading (still do!).

I came across this idea on another photographer’s blog a while back, and fell in love with it:

salt lake city child photographyI made this one with words that relate to my photography business and used my business colors as well. It does not have all the words, I quickly realized I’d need twice the space in order to include all the words that I wanted.  And then I suspect new ones would be emerging all the time. Still, it’s partly like the word version of all my photography work, I love it.

Now I’m working on a personal version that will include the names of everyone in my family and words that have special meaning to us, that will describe who we are as individual and as a family. When I’m done, I plan on getting it printed as a large gallery wrap canvas so I can hang it up next to our family portraits. It will be a project for 2010.

If you are a regular blog reader, you have probably noticed my infatuation with new products- I can’t resist a  cute new thing. This new one was no exception:

utah child photography mini accordion albums

These are 3×3 accordion albums with custom magnetic covers- aren’t they the cutest? The have 6 panels on one side and 4 on the other, and each one can be customized as well. They come in sets of 3, which is great, because you can keep one (or 2) to yourself and gift the others. I designed some as stocking stuffers for my kids (shh- it’s a secret!), plus one for me and dad. I can’t wait to see their reaction!

As always, you are welcome to make an appointment with me to come see any product in person, just send me an e-mail.

I will be offering these mini accordion albums as part of my new Pricing and Products for the New Year. There are lots of changes coming, including collections that have all the digital files and professional prints. Don’t forget to sign up for the RSS fee to get first notice, or head on to my Facebook page and become a fan.

These sisters were such a delight to photograph! I love how their personalities shine through in these images, their own little selves captured in perfect moments. Big sister M was such a fun model and really enjoyed her time in front of the camera ; little H was so cute and loved to sit on the little chair.

The weather was beautiful and the Fall colors were the perfect background for this mini session. Mom and Dad, thank you for bringing them over, hope you will enjoy these!

On Saturday, I met these adorable sisters whom I hadn’t seen for almost 9 months.  You can view first session here.

I love it when parents bring back their little ones to me, it’s so much fun to see how much they have changed. Their mom took advantage of the Holiday Mini session offer and wanted some images with the beautiful Fall foliage.

This is just a sneak peek for mom and dad, we had such a wonderful time and I love how you can really see the genuine emotion in these captures. I think these are my favorites from the session.

A few more to come soon.
