Baby Jocelyn was born 3 weeks early. She was 17 days old on the say of her custom newborn session, just one day shy of her due date. Even though she was older than what I usually recommend, she behaved well and we were able to capture beautiful portraits of her, ones that show how little and delicate she is at this brief stage in her new life.
If you are familiar with my photography work, you may have noticed how I prefer to capture newborn babies with a simple, natural look and soft, flattering light. I have to add that I have been drawn to simplicity as a result of personal convictions of style. A newborn baby is such a perfect marvel that not much else is needed other than an expertly used fabric swaddle and beautiful morning light to accentuate the delicate features. I know that there is a strong trend nowadays for the extra props and the shabby-chic look, but I believe that a prop should be used to enhance the image and not detract from the baby. If you look at an image of a newborn baby and you pay attention first to the bright colors of the background, then the baby becomes a prop as well, instead of the central figure. I want the parents to remember their new baby and her beautiful little details during her first few days of life, not the props and clothes that were used for her newborn session.
And now on to baby Jocelyn’s portraits:

I love how the colors turned out in this series, the gray and the purple together are so flattering.

Little details are so precious and always one of my favorites from the session:

I love the soft colors of a cream-on-cream set up:
Even at almost 3 weeks of age, baby Jocelyn still curled adorably:

Hope you enjoyed baby Jocelyn’s portraits, it was my pleasure working with her!

Baby Lincoln at 5 days of age- the little details are so important to capture as he will never look like this again.

This is baby Jocelyn, who was born 3 weeks early and came to me for her newborn session on the day before her due date. She’s still so little and dainty, and I wanted to show that- just a simple set up and a perfect baby girl.
This is just a sneak peek for her mom, more to come soon!
I’m so excited to share that one of my images was awarded a 2nd place ribbon at the Utah State Fair:

If you go visit the Fair, in Salt Lake City, be sure not to miss the photography exhibit, so much talent.
This is beautiful baby Gus who came in for her newborn portraits with her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother! Such an honor to be able to capture this very special moment.

A beautiful “Before and After” image of baby Lincoln and his gorgeous mother. I am so happy that I was able to capture these special times in their lives!

A few months back I made a collage with some of my favorite personal images from 2010. I finally got around to ordering it and I couldn’t be more pleased! I love the clean modern feel and the extra wide white border. Now I just to find a place to hang it.
It’s 36″x24″ in size, each individual image is just under 4×4″. For comparison purposes, you can see that 5×7 next to it. I ordered it as a 3/4″ standout with white edge, even though you can’t tell from this angle.
And I decided to share the template right here! You will need a working knowledge of Photoshop CS4 and above. It has 18 openings, with clipping masks. The finished size is 36×24″ but you will be able to size it down (or up), if you prefer.

Enjoy!
I just delivered this fabulous collection of products last week and I couldn’t help but take a few shots of it. It all turned out so cute and well-coordinated:

This is an example of Collection 1, which includes one 16×20 mounted print and the digital images (with printing rights) and the 5×7 reference prints. The 5×7 press printed birth announcements were part of the current promotion and baby Gus’ family added a custom image box to their order. The little 3×3 albums are an incentive with purchase. I just love, love how it all looks!
And here are the digital boards, so you can see the details better:

I got to spend last Friday morning with baby Laramie. At 10 days old, he was very alert and calm, and didn’t want to miss a thing going on. We were able to capture lots of adorable images like this one, showing off his beautiful eyes.
This is just a sneak peek for his mom, more to come later.

Do you see this adorable new baby? How cute is he! This is baby Lincoln, who came to the studio on his 5th day of life. I spent Friday morning with him and his parents (and even met his older brothers and sisters) and we had such a great session!
This is just a sneak peek for his parents and I will have to come back, post more and introduce him better.
I had to come back and post a few more of baby Gus, who did so well at her newborn photo session. Miss Gus was 9 days old and 12 lbs at birth. I loved her little rolls!

Baby Gus was such a smiley girl!

For her nursery walls:

One of my very favorites from her session:

And one with mommy:

Her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother joined her for a generations shot, such a special one:
The blanket in this image belonged to her mother as a baby, isn’t that so cool!
Thank you so much for choosing me to capture your sweet baby and this special time in your life.
