“When the first baby laughed for the first time,

the laugh broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about,

and that was the beginning of fairies.”

- J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

Isn’t this the most adorable little smile? This is baby Alex whom I introduced last week.  She was such a dream to work with and her session went so well that I had a really hard time deciding which images to show. So I’m showing a little more than usual- hope you will enjoy these as I much I do!

And my very favorite one:

Don’t forget to leave some comments for this little one. :)

This is baby Alexandria, on day 16.

She was born a little bit early and is one of the smallest newborns that I have photographed (just a little over 6 lbs). She behaved beautifully and made my job so easy.

Only one for now for her mom and grandma, more to come soon.

- Carl Sandburg

Here are a few more of little Claire’s photos from her session last week, on her 9th day:
She was a great smiler! And I love all the wrinkles in her arm, so cute!

She loved to be in this position. This is a 20×10 crop.

She has the best lips, so perfectly designed.

I love the splash of color from this blanket, so fun with the polka dots. It was a gift to her, it makes this image more special and personal.

This is my favorite image from her session, the light is so lovely and she looks so peaceful.

I think I like it even better in black and white.

Thank you, R, for inviting me over. Enjoy your images!

This is little Claire, who is 9 days old today. I love meeting new little ones and we had a wonderful session this morning.

This is just a sneak peek for her mom, more to come next week.

And one in black and white:

Do you remember this little guy? Here are some more from his session. I loved this session, he behaved so well and let me try so many different things. How sweet is that little pout?

Can’t decide if I like it better in color or in black and white.

At 5 weeks, he was still such a ‘curly’ little one.

I met this little one yesterday morning. I usually only photograph newborns who are under 8 days old and this little guy was over 5 weeks old- he behaved like an absolute angel though, and was a true joy to capture.

This is a sneak peek of some of my favorites for his parents and grandma- thank you for inviting me over! More to come soon.

Sophocles was an Ancient Greek playwright from the 5th century BC. He was very famous for his writings of tragedies and history says he had sons, but not exactly how many.

And why am I sharing this, you wonder? I looked up the quote for this post and found it interesting that a man, born and dead so many centuries ago, was able to sum up so eloquently the stronghold a child has on a mother’s heart. From before birth, a new mother’s heart is never the same and with the birth of her new baby, so a new life of joys (and oftentimes sorrows) is born. And I must confess that I have been feeling a little sentimental- my 3 year old son is starting preschool and my ‘baby’ is almost 2 years old! Where has time gone!

Sienna’s mom placed her trust in me and let me work with her precious new daughter when I arrived there last Friday. I am grateful that she didn’t question my ways and creative set ups, it was a joy working with both of them.

Hope you have enjoyed meeting little Sienna! I’d love to know which image is your favorite . :)
