I met the lovely ‘A’ yesterday evening. She is 38 weeks along in her pregnancy, expecting her 1st baby early next month.

We couldn’t have wished for better weather last night- partly cloudy, gentle breeze, with a little bit of sun through the clouds at the right moment! This is just a sneak peek. :)

‘A’, thanks so much for coming out for your maternity session. Can’t wait to meet your new little boy next month!

I’m so excited to show off a new product!

The Image Box is a keepsake box customized with images from your session. The inside dimensions are 5×7, to hold the reference prints or birth announcements.

I love how this one of baby Titan’s session turned out. You can see how everything coordinates, the image box, the bordered reference prints and the birth announcements. A true heirloom keepsake collection.

Here is a digital version, so you can see better the details:

Image boxes are available a-la-carte, and may be purchased with a collection discount. There are many designs and colors available, to suit any kind of session and occasion.
And a shot of a 12×12 Quote print:

Love how it all turned out, such a beautiful collection!

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart.”
- Helen Keller

My two little monkeys. They are the best of friends, at 5 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old. They do all of their adventures together, get in trouble together and pretty much spend all of their time together. Being brothers as they are, sometimes they fight too, but they don’t stay mad at each other for too long.

I wanted to capture their relationship before they grow too much older (seriously, why do little kids grow up so fast?!) and I was inspired by a photographer friend to use a bed as a simple playground of sorts.

These are not technically perfect images by any standard. My goal was to capture more of them being with each other and not worry so much about technical settings and composition.

They were silly at times (I love the way he still holds his feet like babies do).

Laughing so hard at times.

And sometimes they were a bit serious.

There were hugs at times.

And some rare moments of meditation (big brother’s idea and little brother followed).

I think this one is my favorite.

And a little slideshow of all my favorite ones:

I showed them this and they said they’d like to do it again. :)

I introduced ‘A’ a few weeks ago and I had to come back and share some more images from her fabulous maternity session.

Our goal for ‘A”s session was to achieve some stylish and some classic images and capture this beautiful stage in her life. Whether it’s the 1st pregnancy, or the 6th, as in ‘A”s case, I really encourage a new mother to document this special time. I know I never felt particularly beautiful or camera-ready, but I regret not having any maternity portraits taken with any of my 4 babies. It’s something that I can’t get back.

The best time for a maternity photo session is between 32-38 weeks, and ‘A’ was just within that time frame. I loved how well prepared she came, with lots of wardrobe and accessory choices, it was so fun to choose the outfits that best suited her.

We also did some images using fabric to accentuate her form. I love the colors in this image, it has become one of my favorites- her gorgeous red hair, the fluid green fabric and the peaceful gray background all come together harmoniously to compliment ‘A’s  beautiful pose and serene countenance.

The shots in front of the patio doors are always my favorite, the light is just perfect for a lovely silhouette.

And this last one is my favorite from her session- she looks so lovely and I can feel the true connection she already has with her unborn child.

I can’t decide between the color or the black and white:

‘A’- thank you so much for making the drive! I can’t wait to photograph your new little one in a few weeks time!

Bringing a new baby home is such a special time in a couple’s life. As you fall in love with your new baby, there are little moments and little features that you try to commit to memory. At the same time, you are so tired  and it’s so easy to forget everything. I actually felt like the first few months went by in a blur when I was a new mom with my first baby.

This is why I love newborn photography.  I love being able to capture the beauty of a new baby, to record the way the new parents adore him or her. I know they will have these special images to help them remember all the little things that their hearts love, even if their minds fail to take it all in.

Baby Titan’s session was no exception.  Titan was just 5 days old on the day that I photographed him. I was so glad that his parents invited me over when he was still under 10 days old, which is the best time to have a newborn photo session.  It was so lovely to spend some time with him and his parents, I really felt the love in their home.

I have so many favorites from this session, and I am really excited to share them all with you:

I love to photograph new babies in a simple style where the focus of each image is the baby and not the props. This is achieved with purposeful yet natural posing, soft fabric colors that compliment the baby and interesting textures.  Titan’s little hands are too beautiful to keep under the swaddle.

I also loved his full head of hair, such a beautiful color.

I have to confess that I yawn every time I see this image. But I really love baby yawns, so adorable!

His little back wrinkles- need I say more?

I was so excited to use one of beautiful knit diaper covers that I purchased on my last trip to Portugal. It complimented Titan’s skin color so well!

And I have to post again my favorite image of Titan’s session, this time in black and white.

‘A’ and ‘D’, congrats again on your gorgeous new little one! I am so happy for you both!
