This is baby Megan, who was 10 days old on the day she came to me for her newborn session. Megan was the first baby to be born at the new Mountain West Women’s Center. I thought that was really cool when her parents mentioned that! She’s the first girl in the family and I could tell how smitten they were with her. I must confess that I fell in love with her full head of hair and her cute little lips, so adorable!

As you will see, little Megan was a true model baby. She behaved so well that I was done in record time. We also had very pretty light at the natural light studio that morning, which made for the best black and white photo conversions.  In fact, I liked it so much that I decide to make this a classic newborn session in black and white photography.

I have to add that I have been drawn to simplicity as a result of personal convictions of  style. A newborn baby is such a perfect marvel that not much else is needed other than beautiful morning light to accentuate the delicate features.  I know that there is a strong trend nowadays for the extra props and the shabby-chic look,  but I believe that a prop should be used to enhance the image and not detract from the baby. If you look at an image of a newborn baby and you pay attention first to the props, then the baby becomes a prop as well, instead of the central figure. I want the parents to remember their new baby and her beautiful little details during her first few days of life, not the props and clothes that were used for her newborn session.

So I leave you with the  images of beautiful baby Megan, and let those speak for themselves in her behalf.
