“Every child born into the world is a new thought of God, an ever-fresh and radiant possibility.”
-Kate Douglas Wiggin

Meet Addison, who is 8 days old today.

When she arrived at the studio, she resisted going to sleep and her mom and I were laughing about her sneaky little ways. But once she fell asleep, Addison behaved like the true princess that she is. I loved her delicate features and dark hair, so adorable!

This is just a little sneak peek, more to come soon :)

‘S’, thank you for bringing your little Addison to be photographed, it was my pleasure meeting you both!

“The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn’t been,
and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like him.”
- Pablo Casals

Meet baby Andre, on his 7th day of life. I spent the morning with him and his mom today and this is just a sneak peek- more to come soon!

Thank you, ‘H’, for inviting me over- hope you enjoy this one!

I met baby Noah in his home on his 10th day of life. As always, I feel so blessed to meet a new baby and capture his newness. Newborn babies grow so quickly and there are so many new little things that ought to be photographed into memory. I recommend that newborn sessions take place when the baby is under 2 weeks old,  ideally between days 4 and 8- younger babies are easier to pose and it becomes more special to try and get all those little details that are so adorable.

I loved Noah’s dark hair, with that little swirl right in the front:

He let me try one of my new knit hats.  Not all babies like to wear hats, I can tell you that, but Noah didn’t mind it at all.

I love to see the wrinkles on his arm and the little foot peeking from under him:

This one has become my favorite from his session, just love it! And look at those lips!

This basket belongs to his Grandma and he absolutely loved being in it!

He was so relaxed and content.

Thank you, ‘S’, for inviting me over! I had so much fun meeting you and your little guy was just perfect!

“Spring has returned. The Earth is like a child that knows poems.”
- Rainer Maria Rilke

It was a wise man who said: “In the Spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather inside of 24 hours.” (Mark Twain). It makes me chuckle, this is so true for Spring in Utah! The weather has been very moody lately but the buds and blossoms have made their appearance.

Let us enjoy it for soon it will be a hot day in July again.

Taking photos of a newborn baby is somewhat of a challenge- even when the conditions are ideal and all my tricks are used, the baby is always the one who runs the show, so to speak,  and I never know beforehand how the session will turn out.  I can only do my part and wait for the baby’s cues to let me know how much I can do.  After all, I can’t bribe and reason with a little model who his under 10 days old.

Allen’s newborn session was just what every photographer hopes for and I can actually say I have the photos to prove it! :) His mom is now enjoying his gallery so I am ready to post my favorites from his session. So here is little Allen, 7 lbs at birth, on his 9th day of life:

I should add that the little blue/green earflap hat and the mohair wraps, the chocolate and the cream, were hand knit by me. They turned out to be the perfect accents and Allen loved the softness, he was so cozy and content.

Hope you enjoyed this large share!

I have teamed up with Jack Rabbit Press and Books for a display of my macro work.  Jack Rabbit Press is located in Tooele, 272 North Broadway Street,  just South of Elton Park.

This is a 20×20 metallic float wrap print of  macro shots that I took last year. It is a limited edition and available for purchase.

The metallic photographic print really brings out the colors and details and it looks much, much better in person, you just have to go see it. It is mounted in a way that makes it stand out from the wall, adding depth to it as the focal point. I like how it doesn’t need framing, and it really goes with any kind of decoration.

In addition, I granted Jack Rabbit permission to use one of my newborn images for this awesome idea:

It’s a larger-than-life birth announcement masquerading as a celebrity movie poster. This particular one is really big, about 3′x5′ (if I remember correctly), but they offer all sizes with on-site printing. I think it’s a really unique idea and it would make a fabulous new baby gift.

If you live in Tooele, go pay a visit to Jack Rabbit Press and Books. If you’re from out-of-town, just consider a road trip. ;)

This is baby Noah’s forehead- how cute is that little swirl? I thought it was so unique that it deserved it’s own image. His mom and I joked that once he gets more hair, it will be hard to comb down.

More to come this week!

wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities.”

- Eda J. Le Shan

This is baby Noah at 10 days of age.

I spent my morning with him and his mom yesterday- I love his serene look, the beautiful big eyes and smooth dark hair. More to come next week.

Thanks, S, for inviting me over. It was my pleasure photographing your sweet little guy!

1. the quality or state of being perfect; 2. flawlessness.

If you haven’t noticed by now, I love babies, I love to do newborn sessions.  The sessions are usually long, and I’m usually sweating buckets by the end, I have a pile of laundry to do when I get home,  but it’s all worth it. I have the best work- I get to meet new moms, spend time with their adorable babies and I end up with some beautiful images of newborns-  everyone wins, don’t you think? Plus, I don’t think there is anything more perfect than a brand new baby.

Baby Allen was an excellent little model. I’m still processing his session (thanks, mom, for being patient with me!) but  after I finished this image, I just had to come and post it. It has become one of my favorite newborn images. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

And come back tomorrow, I will have a sneak peek of another newborn!
