“Pour down your great warmth great sun!”- Walt Whitman

DSC_3152 webI took Rose out for a very quick mini session so I could practice outdoor lighting at sunset. This time of year is perfect for that since the evenings are cooler and the colors are softer.

I love how this one turned out: her expression, the softness of the setting, the warm sunlight, all combine to make it one of my favorites.

“A boy’s story is the best that is ever told.”- Charles Dickens

This is the story of Artie.

Artie is 2 and half years old. I met him yesterday in the evening, just before sunset. Artie likes to look for bugs hidden in the weeds:

2. DSC_2992 web I told him I’d like to take his pictures. He said:

“Huh? I don’t think so! Catch me if you can!”

“What about if I give you some gummies, Artie?”

Artie liked his gummies, but he liked running too. I got to see him from all angles, while I tried to catch him:

His dad had a better idea than gummies:

“Can I keep this dollar, daddy, please?”

“It’s mine now! Catch me if you can, daddy!”

After all the running around, Artier rolled on the grass and laughed his head off:

This is what little boys like to do best, look for bugs and run around and roll on the grass, while getting away with daddy’s $20 bill.

I didn’t follow Artie home, but I’m pretty sure he slept really well last night! Thanks, mom and dad, for bringing him over, he’s so cute! Hope you enjoy these!

“It’s beauty that captures your attention;

personality which captures your heart.”

You will find this to be so true about these girls, they’re both beautiful and full of sparkling personalities.

This is Sara, my cousin’s older daughter. I love her beautiful brown eyes and dark hair.  Can you believe she’s only 10? Her mom will have a hard time keeping the boys away from her, that’s for sure!

DSC_1829 webThis is her little sister, Catarina. She was full of smiles.

DSC_1840 2 webShe has equally gorgeous eyes, even though so different from her sister. I actually know where she got these eyes, totally after her grandpa, you can even see that little bit of mischief, so cute.

I wish I had had a little more time with them, it was a lot of fun. They’re such beautiful girls!

Sara e Catarina, obrigada por posarem para mim. Gostei muito de vos fotografar, espero que gostem destas imagens. E à Mamã, obrigada também, as tuas meninas são lindas!

I have some sessions coming up and I had some moms ask me for clothing suggestions for their little ones.  So I thought of putting something together for the sole purpose of sparking ideas:

what_to_wear web

Mind you, this is not my original idea, lots of photographers do it. I do have a list of suggestions here but sometimes it’s easier to actually see suggestions.

I like to suggest that you pick one or 2 colors and then coordinate tops and bottoms instead of trying to match everybody. This way there is cohesion but each child will also keep a sense of individuality; you want the emphasis to be on the subjects and not the outfits. Don’t be afraid of color splashes and fun patterns, we definitely don’t want boring. Of course, you don’t have to go and buy all new outfits; sometimes you already have a piece or two that you like and you can work around that.

This would probably work for most ages and most retailers nowadays have clothing pieces that coordinate, so coming up with an outfit isn’t as hard as it used to be.

If you have a specific color palette and age range and genders you would like to see featured, just send me an e-mail.
